stock_steve
No. I kick myself for not asking. I was just intrigued by its story, and busy taking photos. I think I was in "I can't afford it, so won't ask" mode, instead of "journalist" modeI fixed the post, though, as I had the wrong year listed. It is a 1929 Type 37.Yes, I often find myself asking myself why I didn't try to gather up any more information about the subject of various photos I take also, afterwards, when I'm going thru the photos that I took. Sometimes I luck out when I can enlarge the photo to discern some details from the window card, for sale sign, etc.. By the way, latest AA arrived in little old Stony Creek, CT yesterday, and WOW, what a TREMENDOUS Hershey report in there! Along with tons of other great stuff as well! THANKS and NICE JOB West and everyone who makes it happen!
stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Wednesday!... Still on our extended Hershey 2014 Car Corral browse... This time we have a magnificent mid-'50s Chrysler Imperial 2-door... Wow, whatta car... "That thing got a Hemi in it?" (I'm going to assume it does)...How about that plate? Get it?!Cropped and enhanced portion of the interior shot--yes that does appear to be an under-dash record player...

stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Thursday... Continuing our Car Corral casual browsing... Let's see, the wikipedia page says that "1000" series Morris Minors were built '56 thru '71--so, without any discernable identification showing up in any of my photos, I can only guess that the year of this really beautiful Traveler "woodie" was somewhere in that range... AC Fuhrman
My high school girlfriend had a Pinto wagon like the one up a few photos - a bronze color with black interior. stock_steve
Here is a favorite from show day - the Mack trash truck! Super cool.We talked with that guy a bit--Matt from CT--super-talented restorer and very nice fellow, and got some of the background story about that unbelievable truck. I have a couple of shots of it also, but I'm going in order with my photos, so it's going to be near the end for me. But I definitely agree that it was a STANDOUT! I think West put a picture of it in the latest AA also.Agree that Pintos are very cool also, by the way, AC! We had a very nice original '73 Squire (woodgrained wagon, white with brown interior) that we showed at Hershey in HPOF for several years and had a positively wonderful time with it. It has most recently gone on to a new owner, who is also equally enthusiastic about it. stock_steve
One more Car Corral installment for today: 1968 GTX Convertible--WITH A HEMI... How high was the price? I don't know--how high is up?!... It was superb of course... But two minor negatives, in my book, anyway: 1) white upholstery, and 2) lack of floor shift (what's up with that?)... Have a great rest of your Thursday!
stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Friday... From our ongoing Car Corral browse, here's a quick shot of a very nice looking late '60s or so Chevy Pickup rolling thru, and looks like maybe a GTO or Tempest ahead of it... I'll also include a cropped version... Happy Friday once again...
stock_steve
One more overall look back (with that Chevy Pickup diminishing in the distance) at some areas of the Car Corral that we just walked thru... stock_steve
Last installment for today, from the Car Corral... Very nice Toyota Celica ST, and the model year 1976 discerned after some amateur electronic manipulation of the original photo to bring out some of the washed out window card detail... I also did some casual internet searching for the meaning of the "swan" or "dragon"-looking emblem, and found this quote on someone's Celica Supra message board: "...Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial"... Quote from Toyota USA, http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/history2.htm ...A stylised dragon forms the Celica symbol... Kiichiro Toyoda was supposed to be a big fan of dragon boat racing... Celica is also a North European name meaning heavenly (celestrial)... The Carina was also made on the same production line using the same mechanicals..." My wife, who has owned both a Carina and a Celica in her own automotive history, really liked this one... Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

stock_steve
From the American Austin Bantam Car Company wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Austin_Car_Company): "...The American Austin Car Company was an American automobile manufacturing corporation. The company was founded in 1929, and produced motorcars licensed from the British Austin Motor Company from 1930 through 1934, when it filed for bankruptcy..." I don't have any information on this specific American Austin that we saw in the Car Corral, but it was certainly a beauty... Happy Monday once again... stock_steve
Continuing on our Car Corral browse, for a Tuesday lunchtime... Here's a positively magnificent '49 (best guess anyway) Buick Super 8 Convertible in a really attractive pale yellow, with black top (w/contrastic red piping), red wheels, and wide whitewalls... A real eye-catcher... Wish I had more info on this big, beautiful Buick, but sadly, just this one shot...
stock_steve
One more from the Car Corral for today... Brass-era Maxwell... Very beautiful specimen!... stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Wednesday!... From the Hershey Car Corral, it's a superb '72 Chrysler Imperial, a splendid representative of the so-called "fuselage look" era. Quoting from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_(automobile) : '...The "Fuselage Look" was how Chrysler described its new styling in 1969. Instead of the square lines of 1964-68, the new Imperials featured rounded "tumblehome" sides, bulging at the belt line, and tucking in down to the rocker panels. The new styling not only made the cars look longer and wider, it also surrounded the passengers in a hull-like fashion, similar to an aircraft, hence the reference to "fuselage"...' stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Friday! Happy to continue on our browse thru the Car Corral... At this point, however, being around the back edge of the Orange Field (remember that the Car Corral kind of wraps completely around three sides of it), we decided to take a quick detour up to the flea market space of John the VW parts guy from Western PA, from whom Diane had bought a bunch of great old NOS VW parts a couple of years ago. His space was very close to the southern tip of the Orange field. The good news was that he was there this year, and Diane had fun catching up wth him and buying a few more top notch NOS parts. It sounds like he never even set up last year due to the heavy rains! Anyway, glad he was able to make it back this year!... Happy Friday once again... stock_steve
Back in the Car Corral proper again... Came across this positively fabulous mid-'30s (best guess anyway) Terraplane Cabriolet--wow, talk about STYLISH... Diane and I attempted a couple of selfies in the slightly cloudy spare tire's hub cap--not too successful, even with electronic intervention... Have a great rest of your Friday, and a great weekend!... Over and out for now!...
stock_steve
Good morning and Happy Monday!... From the Hershey Car Corral, it's a couple of cool British sports cars: A very nice looking MGTD, and then a '60 MGA that looks like it needs a little TLC ... Sorry no ideas of asking prices on either... From the applicable wikipedia pages, TDs were manufactured '50 to '53, and MGAs were manufactured '55 to '62... Have a great day! stock_steve
Happy Early Tuesday Lunchtime... Here's a super-clean looking '67 Chevy Impala wagon that we saw in the Car Corral... I wanted to make sure that it was in fact an Impala, since I could not tell by blowing up that rear fender emblem, and so I did some internet searching for reference photos of '67 Impala wagons, and found one, which clearly shows the rear script and emblem, which I'll include here. Sorry no idea on asking price for this very nice white example with rally wheels... Have a good day, and we'll be back for more Hershey browsing tomorrow...
