Can anyone tell me if there was ever a shop manual published for a 1966 Buick Special? And if there was, do you know where I can get one? They might have used a different cars shop manual for the 66 Special, I don't know. Can someone please help me?????

There certainly would have been a Buick shop manual to cover the '66 Special, and I suspect that the same manual probably also covered the Skylark and Sportwagon. Check the ebay auctions periodically for 1966 or 66 Buick; if you are patient, you are likely to find one.
Also, I have been pleasantly surprised to find that many public libraries have shop manuals for the older cars in their archives. One public library near me, for example, has all of the Buick shop manuals from the '50's, '60's and '70's. You could check out the appropriate shop manual and photocopy any pages you currently need.

Jimbo,
I believe there are three shop manuals for 1966.
Chassis Manual: All Buicks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=376279967&r=0&t=0
Body Manual: May say Buick on the cover, but it's the Fisher manual for all GM bodies. 'A' body cars are covered in seciton 2, if I recall. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=376781312&r=0&t=0
Parts Manual: All Buicks. This may be incorporated into the chassis manual in 1966. GM began discontinuing the separate parts manual in the mid-60's. I've got one for a 1965, but not sure about '66.
If you don't have one, I recommend the Owner's Manual, also. It's helpful.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=377011716&r=0&t=0
Manuals are also avialable on CD ROM from Cars and Parts for $49.95. I don't have one, but I've heard good things about them.
http://www.carsandparts.com/Books-manualsonCD.html
And finally, if you can find one, a Motor Manual that covers mid-60's cars is a useful too. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=376100780l
Gotta LOVE eBay! LOL
Good luck.
Cheers,
John

[This message has been edited by John Chapman (edited 07-13-2000).]

There is another manual, National Service Manual, These are excellent for references, I have used it more than a shop manual, easy and quick references. I know of the years 1964 - 65 - 66 - 67 , as I have these books, have not found other years yet. Each book covers one year, but all Makes of vehicles, from chev to whatever, Americam vehicles only.
