handmedownreatta Posted July 13, 2014 Share Posted July 13, 2014 the clutch bearings went out on my compressor.i keep reading on here of remanufactured compressors being junk.anyone found a good source or had success changing the clutch?prior to this my ac[converted to 134]worked if i recharged it every other month. charlie1 Posted July 23, 2014 Share Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Pick a GM dealer where you can get a discount. Get part number and run it thru GM parts direct to get comparison. Add shipping and handling with GM parts direct. I pulled out receipt from my dealer dated 11/10/2011 the part number for my 1989 Riviera was 89018942. The dealer charged me $370.69.That includes a pretty healthy discount this dealer gives me for being their best customer. It has a lifetime guarantee.As info I stayed with R-12 because I have a large supply of it.
