Eric's.64.Superwildcat
I could use some help with the name of this fastener head type. I did a Google search without success. It is from the 'gearbox' on my '64 power seat. I am looking for name of the tool that will seat into the fastener head properly. Let me know if you need a photo of the 'gearbox' that I'm referring to. Thanks.
steelman
GM called these "clutch head" bolts or screws. Really hard to find screwdrivers or sockets for these. These were used a lot in Chevrolet pickups in the 50s and early 60s. Check with Eastwood, I think they still offer these in their tool catalog. Snap-On and Matco used to carry these, but have since discontinued them. Edited March 8, 2014 by steelman (see edit history)
steelman
Eric, one other quick note. The heads on these strip really easy. If you find a tool. You can't put a lot of torque into this connection before the tool jumps out of the head. Way worse than any Phillips head does. If possible, add a little heat to the screw to break the rust loose before you try to turn these. I have found that really helps with these heads. Eric's.64.Superwildcat
Thanks Steve. That's what I needed. I already removed the fastener and it was fairly easy. However, when I reassemble everything I want to do it the right way. Now I know I can get there from here.Thanks.
