Guest jeffmc
Hello AllWe are trying to remove the transmission from the motor and are having trouble to get it to separate. We have all the bolts out and the trans is separated about 1/4 inch and will not come no more. This is the first time we have removed a trans of the era . This is a 1941 Dodge D19 with a fluid drive trans. Is there some thing special we need to do. Thanks Jeff
Rusty_OToole
The trans is supposed to pull out when the bolts are removed. Did you remove the hand brake cable, shifter rods and speedo cable? And drive shaft? The manual recommends removing the top 2 studs and replacing with guide pins, and removing the other studs.Could the clutch be frozen on the input shaft? Was the clutch working? jackofalltrades70
did you unbolt the flywheel from the torque converter? Is the motor/tranny tilting back far enough to get the transmission off before hitting the firewall?
