63 headlight switch

Mine has lost it's mojo. Feels odd (sort of rough/binding) and now only illuminates instrument lights at full turn. No dimming function at all. All exterior lights function fine in all modes. Sometimes the instrument lights will not come on and I have to re-twist the knob several times to get them on. Anybody know the drill on fixing. Buy new? Rebuild? Sources? Also, it looks like it comes off the harness at the back of the switch...is that right? Any advice would be awesome. Thx PRL

I had the same problem....BUT.....pull the harness off the switch first.....at the base of the switch is a button, push that in, and pull the knob out out first, buy a new one, and install

Sometimes the coil of wire which acts as a reostat to dim the dash lights develops corrosion from lack of use. Try cycling the knob 20 or 30 times to clean off any corrosion build up. Other times the coil is burned and this technique is not a solution. Worth a try,

. . . x 2, on any older style headlight switch knobs !!
