Vernsmith
Starting project on 38 coupe, understand the undercoating not “undercoat” as we know today. What is correct way to restore? Any and all help appreciated.Vern
Guest zazothex
I dunno about anyone else, but I'm planning on POR15'ing the underside after I get everything cleaned. That's for longevity & protection. Over that, I'm thinking spray-on rubberized undercoat (Eastwood/Napa/&c.) to match the appearance of vintage. If I can get the money, I may look into LineX or Rhino. CBoz
Good question. As far as I can tell from looking at a couple old cars, the undercoat is *not* the same as the very rough, hard "Body Schultz" stuff you find on the inside doors. Depending on what you want, zazothex' recommendations make sense.

CBoz
Appreciate suggestions; give me some direction to be looking into.Just to close the loop, I don't know for sure what the exact formulation of the original stuff was, and I wouldn't know where to guide you to get it. My car just has generic 3M modern undercoating on it. Wish I could be more help.
