Wow, what a great time at the AACA Central CT Region show today! Great job by Steve Mack and all Central CT-ers!

My son Matt and I drove up in our '70 VW (superb day for a convertible ride!).

While we were there, we ran across Steve Mack's beautiful Signal Red Mercedes roadster, so had to take a picture of Matt posing with it.

Later we saw Steve Mack and his father Bruce near the MB, so Matt was kind to take a picture of me and (left) and Steve (right), posing in front of Steve's MB.

Steve, thanks for making the trip - I mean't to tell you there was a nice tan VW sedan there somehow mixed in with the strong showing of 60s US cars we usually get, which was also in pretty nice shape. For those interested the big, good looking guy on the left is Stock Steve. :)

If Matt represents the future of the hobby we are in good shape!

Thanks to all who attended yesterday; weather gods were kind this year, nothing questionable! One member brought out his 1901 CT built Columbia, which will be a featured CT built car at the Klingberg Motoring Festival next weekend if you missed it here. We had a full section for prewar and production through 1948 for a change, which was really nice to see! The sports and other sections were also well represented.

We even had a short visit from Mr. Chasing Classic Cars, Wayne Carini, and his dad also showed up later to view the field and pick a favorite for the founder's trophy. All in all a great day...

Hi Steve! Yes, we did indeed admire the superb tan '69 VW Beetle Sedan that was over at the end of one of the rows, with a really slick older BMW motorcycle parked by it. The owner of that VW came up to us right when we were parked and asked why we were not near him--I told him we parked where we were told to park.

post-34222-143141938543_thumb.jpg

Another very slick '60s VW Bug Convertible showed up also, later in the day.

post-34222-143141938554_thumb.jpg

EDIT: Oh, and it just occurred to me that this car was also *Volkswagen-based* (though I believe it has a Subaru water cooled flat four powerplant now); it's a "Meyers Manxter," and a very superbly-constructed one at that! I think the "Manxter" is based on a non-shortened air cooled Beetle chassis. More info: http://www.meyersmanx.com/manxter2+2.shtml

Keep handing those Time Machines flyers out, Matt!

Speaking of awards, "rumor has it" that Jack's new HPOF Pinto Squire station wagon might've won an award at the end of the day. Do you have any info on that, Steve?

I took a bunch more pictures, and am also in process of adding some to the "I love the picture of this Buick" area over in Buick-forum-land, ref: http://forums.aaca.org/f115/i-just-love-picture-buick-339973.html

Just an all-around great show, Steve--we were thoroughly & completely pleased and impressed! Thanks to your and everyone's magnificent efforts within the Central CT Region AACA!

Very nice dash plaque and booklet came in the car show participants' goodie bags, that I took pictures of when I got home. Believe I also have a couple of shots of that incredible feature vehicle, 1901 Columbia (Hartford, CT manufactured), that I took at the show--will follow up with those next chance I get...

  • 2 weeks later...

Now that I've covered all the Buicks I photographed at the Glastonbury show (see the last few pages, maybe around 40, 41 or so, of "I love the picture of this Buick" thread at: http://forums.aaca.org/f115/i-just-love-picture-buick-339973.html), I can get back to some non-Buick (and non-VW) photos from the event:

Here's a kool, mega-patina'd '47 GMC pickup all the way up from my home town (Branford, CT) that was on display at the event:

Great antique firetrucks turnout at this year's Glastonbury event, as always. Kids especially love 'em:

And our buddy John Kuzminski with his '77 Mack Pumper up from Killingworth:

John is a great guy, and does many great civic & humanitarian things (parades, benefits, touch-a-trucks for kids, and much more) with his trucks. I found his '77 Mack listed on this Southern Connecticut Antique Fire Apparatus Collectors page: http://www.emsedsem.org/scafac/MEMBERS_Vehicles.htm

Matt and I really enjoyed chatting with the owner of this "authentic old-school" '32 Ford hot rod. He told us about old school mods like roof chopping (showed us some evidence on this car), channeling (lowering the body on the frame rails), and much more. Don't know his name, but he was a really nice guy, and was very gracious to pass along some of his "old school knowledge" to me and my son. Very cool...

Here are a few more miscellaneous overall-type scenes from this year's great Glastonbury show, produced by the Central CT Region AACA, on Sunday, June 9, 2013:

Sorry, by the, about that renegade "Attached Thumbnail" below that didn't seem to load properly (I can't figure out how to remove it). I added a slightly cropped version of the same shot to this post, and it seems to display ok.

Here are some great pickup trucks that were on display at Glastonbury this year. On the superb "matching" pair of Fords, the one on the right had a restored grass cutter in the bed, which I took a couple of pictures of, and will try to add at some point. The custom '66 Chevy was very beautifully done. And Matt liked the super-nice Job Rated Dodge.

In the motorcycle photos in post #15 of this thread, the one with a windshield had a cool old Connecticut travel tourist decal affixed--I remembered that I took a photo of it specifically--here it is, plus one slightly cropped & enlarged copy...

post-34222-143141980407_thumb.jpg

Looks like it might've been jellyfish season when the decal artwork was created? (judging by the bathing beauty's apparent skin condition)...

Where the heck is "Augerville?!"
