Can anyone identify this pedal car?

I'm hoping some pedal car enthusiasts on the forum can help me identify this pedal car. My wife's uncle acquired it from another family member and he wants to restore it. We found the original dark blue paint on the underside, and he's pretty sure the trim was originally white. He thinks it was purchased new around 1949-1951. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The pedal car is a BMC Sportster nicknamed a "Fishmouth" after its open mouthed grill. It was introduced I believe in 1952 and manufactured well into the 60s.

Tom - thanks so much - I'll pass this on to my wife's uncle. I've found a couple websites that have restoration parts for pedal cars and I'll probably

get involved in the restoration. (just what I need - more projects!) Thanks again for the info...
