Having trouble setting up my carb. Is the air valve supposed to fit tight to the throttle body? Mine doesn't quite close all the way.

buickfarmer: The air valve should fit tightly against the body/barrel of the carb. What usually happens is the half-moon venturi block (made of die-cast) swells up and limits the bottom of the air valve movement. To correct, you need to carefully remove the venturi block and dress it. If you send me an email <bill at 29Buick.ca> I can send you a 3 part article on restoring Marvel carbs from the 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick Newsletter. New venturi blocks for Master carbs are available.
