Guest buckfarmer
Having trouble setting up my carb. Is the air valve supposed to fit tight to the throttle body? Mine doesn't quite close all the way. Edited April 13, 2013 by buckfarmer (see edit history)
michaelod
buckfarmer,As far as I can tell your carburetor is about right. I checked my rebuilt spare which is the same carb as yours and it displays approximately the same gap. Thanks,
Bill - 29 Buick
buickfarmer: The air valve should fit tightly against the body/barrel of the carb. What usually happens is the half-moon venturi block (made of die-cast) swells up and limits the bottom of the air valve movement. To correct, you need to carefully remove the venturi block and dress it. If you send me an email <bill at 29Buick.ca> I can send you a 3 part article on restoring Marvel carbs from the 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick Newsletter. New venturi blocks for Master carbs are available.Bill McLaughlin
michaelod
Bill mentioned the fact that new venturi blocks are available for the Master carbs. Does anyone happen to have a source for these? It appears I am in need of one as well. Thanks,Michael
