Question about finned engine accessories

You might not have to worry about them now but when they were new, cars sold in CA had different "smog" items than did the cars sold in the other 49. The drivers side valve cover had a tube running from it to the breather assembly that did not appear on 49 state cars. The steel valve covers were all produced alike with a oil filler cap and a rubber plug in the driver's side cover. On the cars destined for CA, the plug was removed and the tube was inserted and run to the breather. The finned covers on cars destined for CA had this extra hole in them that did not appear on other finned covers. Because the kickdown switch/linkage was redesigned in '66, the finned covers for '66 had a relief cast into them that was not on similar covers for 64 and 65.
