Bill Reichert
My wife's TC just needed a new thermostat! I thought it was the heater core? A month ago she had a very wet floor. I didn't pay much attention to it. My son borrowed it one day drove 90 miles and said it was overheating. I checked the rad and it was WAY low. After filling and burping several times, it was still not right. The garage said it fooled them for a while since the thermostat was stuck "sometimes". It would pop open after getting quite a bit above normal. The good news is that I learned the new thermostats stay open when they fail.
Guest My TC Toy
Some say they do, however that is not always the case. Read the fine print on the guarantee, if they fail the manufacturer will replace the t'stat if you meet his requirements.
4 Peaks
A thermostat can fail by staying open, or closed, or coming apart. What about the wet floor? Was it wet from water or coolant?
