Dumb 1930 door handle question

I was wondering which side, driver's or passenger's, should the outside door handle with the lock go? Right now, mine is on the passenger's side, which seems odd to me.

Outside door lock always on passenger side in that era.

they put it on the pass side for safety you locked your drivers door in the inside of car slid out on to sidewalk to pass side and locked the door. So you did not get hit by another car while you stepped in the street.

At one point I attempted to install a second locking handle on the drivers side of my 1930 model 68 but discovered that it will work from the passenger side only. thehandleman is correct about the original reason behind the fact the lock worked only on the passenger side of the car. Apparently sanity eventually returned to the auto designers and they corrected their thinking in this area, or perhaps they just got tired of crawling over the gear shift to get to the other side. I am not sure what year we see a locking door handle placed on the driver side.

My 38 has the key lock on the drivers side.
