Guest 36chev Posted August 24, 2012 Share Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) Anyone every heard of the Bizzarini Manta [the blue name of the car is hypertext link that takes you a CNN article about it] before? Any other cars made with center steering? (postwar cars like this one--not early electrics, etc.) Interesting car! john2dameron Posted August 24, 2012 Share Posted August 24, 2012 I guess you are thinking of the Bizzarini Manta designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design. Since Ital Design was formed in 1968 I assume the Manta came a few years later. Before forming Ital Design, Giugiaro had worked for Bertone and later for Ghia. While at Ghia he designed the Maserati Ghibli and the De Tomaso Mangusta. He also designed sever Ferrari's and Alfa's. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DavidMc Posted August 24, 2012 Share Posted August 24, 2012 A bit off topic, not a post war car but also not an electric car, the big bulbous Panhards of the thirties had the steering wheel about on centre. Only a mother could love them!! <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext="edit" spidmax="1026"/> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext="edit"> <o:idmap v:ext="edit" data="1"/> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--> 1938 Panhard Dynamic at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dave@Moon Posted August 25, 2012 Share Posted August 25, 2012 The F1 had a center driving position plus two rear passenger seats, as demonstrated by a few rather famous people (George Harrison, Paul McCartney, & Ringo Starr) here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2ze38XKOfI Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dave@Moon Posted August 25, 2012 Share Posted August 25, 2012 Another center-driven car of a completely different vein was the Messerschmitt KR175 & KR200.:cool: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
