1939 Buick crankshaft

Hello. If any of you have a '39 Buick engine and clutch out of the car, I would like to know the diameter in the rear of the crank where the pilot bearing fits. As most of you know, Buick used a roller bearing as a pilot only in the '38 series 40, and in all '39 models. After that, they went back to the more common ball bearing. My '39 is still all together, but I would like this measurement so I can do a little advance plannning.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Gary

Hello Commodore,

Thank you for the reply, but I am looking for the actual measurement in the end of the crank where the bearing fits. As the bearing is a roller bearing, it is difficult to arrive at a measurement from just the bearing ( which I already have.) I am experimenting with some different bearing.

Re: 1939 Buick Crankshaft

Hello Gary. I have not taken the retaining 'plate' and / or bearing out but the diameter of the counterbore the retainer to hold the bearing in place is set into is 1.625". Regards.

You can edit the text under your name to show " '39 Buick Team Member "

Go to "settings" edit profile, Custom User Title

type in " '39 Buick Team Member "
