Guest fordy
Hi allI am in the process of building up a working clutch for my latest project from left over junk and have noticed that the internal splined part that joins the plates together is stamped "front" and "rear".The basic question is, when fitting it up to the flywheel, is front towards the front of the motor or the "front" as you are looking at it?And does it really matter?ThanksSteveAdelaide Australia
JFranklin
Front is to the flywheel side. It is important to install it correctly, or do it over.
Guest fordy
Thanks for that. I sounded like a dumb ass question when I posted it but it pays to ask.I have just collected the relined plates today and am waiting for the metal disk to get ground so hopefully it will be a job for the weekend to put it in and fit the gearbox that is ready to roll.Is it possible for the plate to go in with "front" away from the flywheel? If so what would the symptoms be - I ask this as when I did my 1924 R, I was unaware of the markings and just put it all together. The clutch works fine when the car is rolling a bit but no matter how I try and adjust it I get grinding when selecting gears when stationary.CheersSteve
