Guest Rob J
I'd like to send my Steering Box out of my 65 to get rebuilt. Can anybody recommend any reliable sources for this work? Thanks.
RivNut
Look in the classifieds of your Riview. There's a company called Lares (or something similar) that rebuids steering boxes and/or exchanges them. While you're at it, you might want to consider exchanging for a faster ratio box.Ed
pyntre
I used Lares in Cambridge Minnesota...They did a great job on the steering box and they also rebuilt my power steering pump. The finished product as far as paint finish was excellent too. I only live 30 miles from them so it was an easy choice. Shipping a steering box could really put a dent in the wallet though !! Guest bigoldv8
I used "Power Steering Services" for mine. Had the ratio improved, both pump and gearbox rebuilt. No issues with either.Power Steering Services - Rebuild or exchange, lifetime warranty, competitive pricing, personalized service, 12:1 quick ratio conversions
RivNut
When ever possible, use the vendors that support the ROA through their advertising. The more we give to them, the more they'll give us in return. Always be sure to let them know you're an ROA member and thank them for helping us maintain our hobby.Ed
WWS
Lares has done numerous boxes for me. Ron is even in my speed dial 1-800-334-5749. Call him and say hiGreat company
Guest Lasse
What´s the price for a steering box rebuild? Just found a huge leak somewhere in that region, I gather the box is the most propable culprit. There are also seal kits on the market, how hard would it be to do it myself? Guest Rob J
I just got my box back from Lares today. I had to pay a tad over $300, as they said my case had internal damage, and it had to be replaced. It looks real nice. Will post some pics shortly. I believe a normal rebuild is something like $229 or so.
