Guest dougklink
I want to leave my '36 12 sedan original but am afraid to take it out in the rain or wash it due to worrying about water leaking through the fabric roof insert and staining the headliner. The insert is in good shape and seems strong physically but I'd like to treat it or paint it with some type of water proof paint.Anyone have any experience with a good product to do this? Thanks
Owen_Dyneto
Years back, before I replaced mine, I tried blackwall tire paint which wasn't particularly satisfactory, and had better results with an annual coating of Butcher's Wax. But that goes back quite a few years, no doubt there are better solutions today.
Dave Mitchell
I think you can still buy "top dressing" from one of the suppliers like LeBaron Bonney. I know I bought it within the last 15 years.

Guest dougklink
Thanks for the replies. I've never used top dressing, the stuff at Bob's looks like the stuff. There's little info though so I wanted to ask is it brush on? I'm envisioning something black and thick that get brushed on and dries flexible? It'll be $45 by the time shipping is thrown in so I just figured I'd ask.
Dave Mitchell
Yes, what I have used you just brush on. You will probably need to do it every year.
