Tim Wolfe
Looking for a piston travel gauge like used on a 1930 Chrysler 6 cylinder engine. (I know, I can use a dial indicator & rod) Would like to have a real one for our car. timandjuliawolfe1@roadrunner.com

Tim Wolfe
Found the info! If you have a Sears or K-Mart store look up online part # 9-38672 it is a timing gauge set with 14 & 18 mm sparkplug hole adapters.Cost was $71.35. If you look it up, you'll see a picture of it or I can send it to you. (They wouldn't let me R&R in Austraila in 69/70!)

bigaadams
how is that going to work when the flathead piston is NOT under the spark plug but rather the plug is over the valve...the one you need will have to work with the removable small plug on number 6 cylinder..think this is about a 1/8 pipe thread
Guest namvetschrysler
Yes your spot on, it will not work through the plug hole
Tim Wolfe
You guys are right, I'll get an adapter made. Will still beat the mag based indicater and rod that I had used.
Guest namvetschrysler
Tim i just got a brass plug, drilled and tapped itregards
Tim Wolfe
1/8" pipe tap fit the bottom of the adapter without drilling it and then a close nipple threaded into it. Now it fits above the piston.
