I have a 1920's Studebaker that I'm hoping someone can tell me a little more about. Exact year and model would be awesome.

Hi Razz

I think you have a 1927 Commander model EW. From what I can see from the photos, the little park lights on the cowl, the bullet shaped head lights and solid (Budd) wheels. I hope this is of some help, and good luck with the project it will be a nice car to have when finished.

Hi again. I forgot to give you the ID numbers, as NZcarnerd stated the serial number should be on an aluminium plate riveted to the chassis on the left side just behind the front wheel. So here are some numbers;

bore & stroke 3 7/8x5,

cu.in 353.8,

HP 75,

WB 120",

serial numbers 4,000001-4039800 US,

4954401-4955391 CAN,

Engine Numbers EW-1 to 40,700

Hope this helps

Cheers

I think oldcar31 is pretty close, it looks to be a 1927 Commander Chancellor Victoria model. Get a wire brush and scratch around on right front side of engine crankcase for the engine number stamped on flat area immediately rearward of the generator location. And the chassis serial number on left frame rail tag behind left front wheel opening. There should also be body ID tags on engine side of fire wall stamped in metal tags with letters about 3/4" tall. Those numbers will all add up to exact model identification.

Attached are ads for the 1927 Chancellor model it looks like you have there.
