Guest leovcarp
I have a 89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme International with a digitalk dash. It fails to show how fast yiou are going. Had dash checked out and it is okay. They thought maybe it was variable speed sensor. Replaced and it still doesn;t work. Any suggestions?? HotRodTom
and FYI, VSS stands for Vehicle Speed Sensor, not variable. It will be located on your transmission. If the rest of the dash still works, then yes, its probably a wiring or VSS issue.
Larry Schramm
If I remember correctly, the car has a speed sensor in the transmission. From there the signal goes to the PCM/ powertrain control module (engine control module) The signal then goes from there to the dash panel. The same signal that goes from the pcm usually goes to the cruise control module. If the cruise control works then I would guess that it is a wiring problem from the pcm to the dash. If it does not work then maybe from the transmission to the pcm. A real quick way to check this out would be to get a scanner and look at PCM data to see if there is a vehicle speed data & readings at the pcm. If so look at pcm to dash.
