56 Century starter R&R

does anyone have a way to get to the top starter bolt? I,ve tried short, long, box, open , crows foot, socket, socket w/universal, and the bent starter manifold wrench. no luck. am I going to have to drop the exhaust or is there another way?

I used a crows foot with an extension longer than the starter body. It was a bit of a pain as I remember but it should come off ok. It went back a little easier after I cleaned up the threads. Good luck.

Been a long time since I've had mine out but if I recall correctly, I have an old thin walled double end 12 point box wrench wrench which I used.
