Oxygen sensors from outside suppliers have been a source of contention since forever. I think it is always safer to get the original from the dealer whenever possible. That's not to say that aftermarket sensors are all unreliable, however some have backed up this ascertion. I do think it is safe to say that the OEM are generally more reliable.

I had a Nippondenso unit installed in my '89 2.2 and had no issues whatsoever. Gas mileage improved and performance seemed a bit better. In any case, one of the outside suppliers has to be the manufacturer of the Mopar dealer units. The question is which one plays the best.
