Bought a 1949 chrysler a few weeks back with the highlander interior not sure

what model it is the badge plate inside the engine bay says

model 452

Body 5

Paint 35

Trim 17

Body number 33250 also a number of 1670212

vechile number inside the door 70767727

also the vehicle did not come with any keys is there a way that I can get the

ignition cylinder out as it appears to be spring loaded, tried looking to see if it

could be removed from the dash but this looks like a major job:mad:.

Any help would be very much appreciated:)

Best call a locksmith about the keys. Some old timers still have the blanks or they turn up on ebay.

You used to be able to get keys from the dealer or from a locksmith by quoting the serial number. This will still work if the locksmith has books that old and if your car has the original locks.

You could also look around for spare keys, some owners kept them hidden on the vehicle. Look for a little magnetic box under the bumpers or in the fender. A long shot but you never know your luck.

The door locks are easy to remove and they should be the same as the ignition. I took the door lock from our 50 New Yorker to a Chrysler dealer and the service manager managed to make me a key.

A service manual explains the lock removal and installation process, you will need a manual.

Good luck,

Jay
