Guest Robert Ricci
I have a 1963 Riviera, with a 401. it is a 45k mile car. Runs rough. Done tune up and checked for vacum leaks. Compression test was a low of 155 in one cylinder and a high of 175 in 2 cylinders with most being between 160 and 170.Any common problems or ideas on how to correct? Larry Schramm
I do not believe the 155 would be a problem. Historical variation between cylinders as I was taught is 10% from highest to lowest. I would look at an ignitition problem. Have you changed the plugs, wires, cap & rotor?

Larry Schramm
The next item that I would look at would be the distributor. Might be a bad bushing, bad connection,... Just thinking out loud.
JohnD1956
I would re-snug the carb hold down bolts, and ensure the choke is sufficiently open. Also I would tap the carb body in the area of the needle valves with the handle of a large screwdriver to free up a stick valve.
Guest Robert Ricci
car was missing plate between the carb and intake. Just orderedone form old cars and will install to see if it is the fix
