platt-deutsch
Are there any numbers stamped in the top of the Piston?
Guest Backyardmechanic
Usely the oversize is stamp on top of pistion But if there's no numbers then it usely is a Standard (std.) bore. The only sure way to know is to have the cylinder check with a bore gage. This will tell you if the cylinder has a tapper or if it's out of round, then mike the cylinder in many places to get the size of bore.Vern. billstewart
Thanks alot guys, it stamped 040 so it can only be bored 020. That would'nt clean it up.So I will have to get it resleeved or found another block.Thank agin
platt-deutsch
When I had mine apart it had 4 identical compression rings and no oil rings. I was able to obtain new set that contained a oil scavenger ring and a oil return ring as well as 2 compression rings. Only mod. I had to do was drill 8 1/16 in. holes in the bottom ring groove... Now it dont smoke anymore.. aparently they never used oil rings in 1925 as mine is a original barn find and was never apart before..
