65 riviera rear end noise

i have a ticking noise coming from the rear end at about 20 to 30 mph its driving me nuts any suggestions what it could be ? u joints ,rear gears ?let me know if youve had this problem or know what it could be thanks:confused:

Ticking is usually a u-joint. If it was a problem inside the differential you would most likely notice it all the time.

Sometimes it can be difficult to determine which joint is bad and/or if its one of the CV joints. I'd first check the joint right at the pinion flange on the axle since you said the noise is coming from the rear.
