will the ecm from a 90 work in an 88? have another 88 ecm that i cant locate at the present time, can get to the 90.

Yes but you will need to swap the PROM (three minutes)

Sure, once out of the car it is just 2 screws on each to remove the cover and then it is like swapping a big memory module.
