Juha Paavo Kaita
Hi!I don´t think this is true mystery photo because I am pretty sure I know this car. It is Chevrolet 4D Sedan from 1938. Originally this car was most propably a private car but during the WW2 it was taken to use of our army. Cars were painted white so it was not so easy to Russian solders to see it. Also head light were protected to make it more difficult for airplains to see cars. The register plate is SA 2395. SA stands for Suomen Armeja=Finnish Army.Best wishesJuha KaitanenTurku, Finland
Tom Burtch
Nice photo. I think you are off by a year and this is a 1939 Chev.It appears to be a well equipped model also as it has two windshield wipers. The passenger side wiper was optional on the base model (Master 85) but was standard on the Master Deluxe.
stexch
Forgive my ignorance, but why were the Russians invading Finland? Since the Russians were Allies, were the Finns part of the Axis?
Juha Paavo Kaita
Russians did not invade Finland because we fought them back. Russian army tried to take over Finland because Hitler and Stalin made a agreement that Germany could invade Baltic states - which they did - and Russia could take over Finland - which it could not. Russian army was about ten times bigger than Finnish army and quite well equipped but they were not so motivated to fight. We had our home land to to protect. We were lucky and were never invated by our Eastern friend.JuhaTurku Finland

Juha Paavo Kaita
Nowadays we are good friend with Russia. People from St: Petersburg area come to Finland to spend their holidays in Finland. Some have bought summer cottages from Finnish lake area. Some bring their expensive cars to Finland to get them service here. We do not have hard feelings any more.JuhaFinland
