Hey Joe,

Your really coming along good on the Cat.

Got some more time this weekend.

Everything is gapped and nailed down. I tell you what, aligning panels is a chore! I started by hanging my hood hinges as they had all the alignments marked, and then put the lower support bar on, and then tightened all the fasteners on the sub structure. Then I hung the fenders and everything was out of whack. I loosened everything, then made the fenders fit, then tightened all the fasteners.

Getting the inner fenders to mate with the outer fenders was a pain. There was a lot of pushing and contorting in odd places. My wife is pregnant and my other kids are small, so no help.

I've got to scrounge up someone to help me hang the hood.

If I put the radiator upper support on, I could drive it now.:D

I've been fighting overheating since the time Sherman was off the road for 9 months at a body shop that really didn't do anything. It was quite perplexing, as I expected overheating from the get go as I pulled the car out of a junkyard. The motor sat open for many years. When I discovered it, I got the radiator re-cored, put the water pump back on, and never had an overheating problem.

Once I retrieved it from the body shop I kept seeing crud in the radiator. I plan on getting the radiator cored out, and to keep it from clogging back up run a coolant filter.

There seems to be only one coolant filter out there, made by Tefba, which runs about $80.

What you get:

New hose from Napa. It is a formed universal, so they expect you to cut it at a predetermined point.

We'll see how it works once I can take it out for a drive.

The front bumper is my next step. When I got to the bumper brackets, I was just grossed out by the amount of rust.

$150 later I have a powdercoated air cleaner, bumper brackets, and a cover that goes in the rear wheel well to cover the fuel filler.
