Is this a Dodge?

Hello all,

I came across this car in the woods while mountain biking. Its probably been wrecked there for about 50 years so its in pretty bad shape. No wheels or hood ornament so IDing it has been difficult. Sorry the pictures are low resolution from my phone, but I can retake them if needed. Note the bullet holes all over! :eek:

Yes....1949 or 1950.

I thought it might be a '49 Custom 8 sedan but the rear window supports don't match what I've found in books. Were there other sedans from that era?

Would not be an 8 as Dodge only had a 6 then. Here is the most likely model for 1949.

Here is the 1950 Dodge (with bumper accessory larger bumper guards).

Bumper and inner door panels look like a 1950 DeSoto.

Completely wrong grille and bumper for 1950 DeSoto.....same body panels, though.

The round parking lamps tell most of the story.

It will probably say D-30 on the serial number or cowl tag for 1949 or D-34 for 1950......Dodge.

There should be a serial number plate on the passenger side front door pillar. We can tell from that number exactly what it is.
