busaf4
What weight oil should go in the oil cups (they are not grease cups). The manual states to use engine oil. Should I use a straight 30 wt or go for a 100 wt modern rear end oil. I presume the 600 wt oil for the trans and rear end is too heavy. Thanks Art Lee
RansomEli
Funny you should ask this question. I just filled the wheel cups on my '21 9B touring with 40wt and the insides of both front wheels are covered with oil. I need to check my factory manual for the proper weight. Funny, I filled the cups several times, but never completely full. I'll check my manuals and post the info.
RansomEli
Finally checked my Series 9B Instruction BookFront Axle Oiling: In cold weather, put several squirts of engine oil through the oil hole in hub every two weeks or 500 miles.Ooops. I tried to fill the hub up. I guess that's why the insides of my wheel spokes are all oily & black.I've been using 40W on all my oil cups for 7 years now with no problems. Seems to be just the right viscosity.
