andyb
Gear shift indicator is not working. After much effort it appears the tension spring used to move the red line (DR,Low,Part) has broken. Cannot find one anywhere. I understand how it works - just need a spring. Any ideas where to find one? Or how to fix it some other way?
Guest My TC Toy
Andy, It's been a couple of years since I removed mine and, quite honestly, I don't remember the exact layout. If you have the old spring you have two choices, either take it down to your local parts depot and try to match it up the best you can, remembering a longer one can be cut and re-looped, or, if only the end is broken off yours, to bend in a new loop and stretch the spring slightly to estimate the original neutral tension position. Either way should work fine.Good luck.
TheLanesinNY
It's my best guess the same spring is not unique to the TC. Many other automatic on the console mid 80's MOPAR vehicles should use the same part.-Rich
Guest LouZ
Hi Andy, I was expecting one of the guys that's taking a TC apart for parts sales would have said they had one. ~ But ~ Hemi hemland@aol.com , or Larry or Andy info@tcparts.com , or Marty mkolner14@hotmail.com , should be able to dig one up somewhere..... Good Luck, Lou
andyb
Found a spring at my local Aamco shop which was similar. It was in a drawer of misc. stuff. Belonged to something else but was low tension and it worked perfectly. Best of all they gave it to me.This was my final problem in bringing TC back to new condition. Thanks to all for your help. I learned alot and found I could fix most of my problems myself.Andy
