Buick Pre-War Explained

Centurion

Recommended Posts

My daughter was looking over my shoulder as I looked at the index of Buick forums here. Her comment was as follows:

"Buick Pre-War was when different Buicks from over the USA crashed into each other and smashed each other's hoods and other parts of the vehicle to make world peace".

Okay, guys, she was so amused with herself that she forced me at pencil point to post her comment here!:o

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Dear Brian:

Actually, your daughter pretty much got it right.

During WW2, old Buicks were especially prized as scrap with that 100-150 pounds of aluminum in the crankcase and a very large amount of alloy steels in gears and other parts. Since they were from 15 to 35 years old, they got melted down quickly. This helps account for their relative rarity today. Sad, but true.

Regards, Dave Corbin
