Guest ekvh
I did the Padgett upgrade finally. It has smoothed out my idle, it is much smoother acceleration, and without much driving it appears my mileage will improve. I opened the plug gap to around 0.060. It does however sputter when I kick the throttle hard and quickly from idle. Above 1500 rpms, it advances fine. Any thoughts on the miss when I kick it hard. BTW I took a coil pack and module from a 98 Lesabre 3.8 and found the mounting plate under a 3.3 Buick. I tried switching the 2-5, and 3-6 wires but it didn't change. I have lost the link to the page which has the pics etc from Padgetts crossover.
padgett
Try here.Only thing I can think of is that at idle the advance is about max &lean and a sudden change in throttle opening may take a moment to retard & richen. This would be more noticable with a wider gap.
