alex bonino Posted May 13, 2009 Share Posted May 13, 2009 I was wondering what you guys have been using where the body manuals call for a "medium body sealer" or "body caulking compound". Places like rear quarter window mechanism access areas, replacing door hinges and door locks, etc.Standard household silicone seems too mushy and soft, and I recall reading in another forum standard silicone can cause corrosion (not sure if thats true or not).thanks! There are several manufacturors, 3M, Kent, Duramix are just a few that quickly come to mind. Costs can vary depending on if you purchase single or 2 component product. 3M # 8405 is a commonly used product . About $8.00 to $10.00 a cartridge. The 2 component materials get above $20.00 per unit and require special application guns.
