Body Caulk & Sealer

I was wondering what you guys have been using where the body manuals call for a "medium body sealer" or "body caulking compound". Places like rear quarter window mechanism access areas, replacing door hinges and door locks, etc.

Standard household silicone seems too mushy and soft, and I recall reading in another forum standard silicone can cause corrosion (not sure if thats true or not).

thanks!

Stay with products designed for automotive use as most are paint compatable . There are several manufacturors, 3M, Kent, Duramix are just a few that quickly come to mind. Costs can vary depending on if you purchase single or 2 component product. 3M # 8405 is a commonly used product .

About $8.00 to $10.00 a cartridge. The 2 component materials get above $20.00 per unit and require special application guns. Here the link to the 3m product page .
