Guest kakenk
I have a 1950 Dodge B2B, (1/2 ton pickup) with a very low rear axel ratio. At 45 to 50 mph the stock engine is screaming. I would like to do a gear change in the rear end so that I can operate at 55 to 60 mph. I am looking for suggestions on what gears or drum to drum swap might be available. JACK M
You should be able to drop in a third member from a later car. I am sure that I have done this before, the outer ends are different but the center section was the same. (I may have had to switch the gears it the housings, it has been 20 years since I did this). I hope that some one out there would chime in on this if I am wrong. I would be interested in swaping your truck gears for some highway gears.
