Sport Steering Wheel for Cutlass

I have a 1971 Cutlass S and am considering installing a sport steering wheeel. I will most likely use the reproduction model from Year One. Here's my question: The car is a Cutlass S, bench seat, column shifter, blue interior. Would a sport steering wheel have been an option on this car? I do not want to create anything that would not have been "original". If it would have been an option, is there a color steering wheel I should use? How do I match it up with the blue steering column? Thanks. Larry.

It's more common in bucket/console cars but could have been ordered for a bench car. Plenty of 442s are bench seat with four-speed and no console.

The 70-77 wheel itself is always black. You'll need to paint the hub to match the steering column, and make sure the kit includes the specific sport wheel horn contact wire. It can be purchased at a GM dealer if it doesn't come with it, an dthey show up on ebay too.
