tbirdman
The 32 sidemount covers I have appear to have a rubber trim piece on the outer edge. Looking for advice where to buy this trim.
Guest imported_Speedster
I Never found any for my '37, don't think the original stuff is available anywhere.I just filled the cracks with Silicone-rubber.
tbirdman
I haven't removed the rubber stuff yet so is it glued to the edge or does it slip over the edge and held on with paint?I guess my options are to leave it on as it doesn't show or try to replace it. Guest imported_Speedster
I didn't try to take it off, I knew it would fall apart if I did. The black silicone-rubber RTV applied over it, looked good. I just masked off around it and applied it with my finger.
tbirdman
OK, looks like a found a pretty close match thanks to Skip Ritner in Spokane WA who has 2 32s. From Steele Rubber it's P/N # 50-0541-37 and it's listed under a 37 Buick. It's a good thing it's not under Packard or it be double the price
Guest imported_Speedster
Thanks for the Info but I'll wait until you get yours on, and see how it Fits, before I order it. I Hope it fits better than I think it will, but maybe that used in '32 is different than '37.
tbirdman
Speedster,I have high hopes for it as he used the exact part number on his 32 sidemount covers. He did use contact cement for the installation. I do owe him a few beers as he had to dig through his receipts for the part number and previous help he has provided:)
tbirdman
Two weeks ago I sent a sample of the rubber to Restoration Specialties in Windber, PA. Today I got an exact match in the mail at $1.50 a foot.
