tbirdman
On a 32 903, what color is the oil gauge face suppose to be (in the engine compartment) I just got a repro which is black background with gold lettering. The one I pulled out looks white (or dirty brownish white) and black lettering.
Owen_Dyneto
Hopefully someone will be able to give you a concise answer, all I can tell you is that in 33 and 34 the Eight dash faces were different color than the Twelves, and the Super Eights may have also been different. In those years the Eight was a light tan with black numerals and letters. I might suggest looking in the parts book to see if all the 32 Eight and Super Eight gauges have different part numbers. tbirdman
I'm refering to the oil level gauge in the engine compartment and not the oil pressure gauge in the dash. I believe in 33 they did away with it and went with a dip stick instead.
Owen_Dyneto
Sorry, but I was referring to the electric oil level gauge which is actuated by a cork float and rheostat within the oil pan (like a gas tank sending unit) which reads on the dashboard on the gasoline/oil gauge by pressing a small switch below the gauge to switch the function from gasoline level to oil level. This method of showing oil level replaced the underhood device, but I'm not sure just when they did away with it.
tbirdman
I did not know that even existed. Thanks for the knowledge. I assumed they moved that function inside the car in 33.
