The Old Guy
The 54-55 dynaflow Buicks have 3.3-3.6 ratios. I have a 3.42 in my 40 and LOVE it
Guest 4buick7
I changed to a 3.90 in my 47 Buick Super. It made all the difference in the world. Before, the engine was working at 55 mph, now I can cruise comfortably at 65+ mph. I generally keep it around 60-65 mph and the engine seems to be loafing. Of course 65 mph on So CA freeways means the slow lane if you don't want to get run over. I had a concern re low gear; would I still be able to pull up a steep hill from a dead stop? No problem, the 3.90 makes the car a much better driver.47 Super woodie
