Guest Australian 1923
I have found in the UK modern versions of all the lubricants except the Steam Cylinder Oil for the Transmission, Rear Axle and the Steering Gear. Mobil do do a 600W Steam Cylinder Oil. Has anyone used it? If not what do you guys use? What to use in the Steering Gear is the most important and is it possible to wash out the old lubricant without taking the gear apart as I think the previous owner used a basic multipurpose grease and not steam oil? I can make a good guess for the right oil for the transmission and the rear axle if no one can come up with the right lubricant.
Rooster
If you're in Australia get hold of some Penrite 250.Use it in transmission and rear axle.As for steering box --- if you have it apart stuff it with grease. Oil will run out eventually. If it's still in the car I don't think you can drain it, just top up with 250 and keep doing that until all the thinner oil drains ie. leaks away.Ken1929

Mark Shaw
I use SAE 250 lube oils in my cars. Try to find Texaco Thuban or Shell Dentax.
