Are hand signals universal or do they come in 17 languages like our Minnesota driver test?

I called the church listed on the title today and talked to the pastor. They didn't use the van much so they sold it. He said they let it go cheap because the roof was all rusty. The seller must have fixed it up and now is flipping it. Van only has 25,000 miles. seller wants $15000. I'll pass.

Here is the title. I'll be calling the church tomorrow. NOW can someone go look at it for me?

I agree. The more I think about it, the more
I wonder about its legitimacy. A buyer MUST
talk to the church to make sure it's legitimate--
and make sure the person reputed to represent
the church is really with the church.
George, the original poster, is well versed in the
hobby. He likely doesn't need the instruction to
see the car for himself, or debates on the scarcity
of that particular vehicle. We all wish him the best!
John,
Thank you! So far, I've received few if any answers to my inquiries. Here are the 2 original questions:
1. Does anyone here have the ability to find out the owner's name, etc. using the V.I.N.?
2. Also, does anyone here live in or near Modesto, CA? The van is about a 15 minute drive from Modesto.
At the risk of offending some people here, I don't need advice on how to avoid scams, insight into how one can't use a V.I.N. to find an owner, the best way to communicate with the seller, etc., etc. Soooooo, I'll repeat myself:
Does anyone here have the ability to find a vehicle owner's name by using a V.I.N.? This is a yes or no question. If you answer yes, can you help me with this van?
Does anyone here live in or near Modesto, CA? This is a yes or no question. If yes, can you help me by going and looking at this van for me? I will gladly reimburse you for your time and expenses. The van is about a 15 minute drive from Modesto.
Thank you to all who replied so far, but I still need answers to my questions.

there most likely is a million copies of the that van in your own state floating around.
Not hardly. It's older and very low miles.

I found a van on FB Marketplace that I like and will buy if it's legitimate. The seller says he is helping a church sell it. I asked for the name of the church and got a photo of part of the title showing the V.I.N. Does anyone here have the ability to find out the owner's name, etc. using the V.I.N.?
Also, does anyone here live in or near Modesto, CA? The van is located in Turlock, CA which is about a 15 minute drive from Modesto. I'm hoping someone can look it over for me. I'm up in MN, a bit far to jump in the car and drive to look at it.

It will sell, shipping is the killer for most interested buyers.
You're probably right since there are plenty of fools around with more money than brains.

There are a few cars that look good with the visors. Unfortunately this is not one of them. Nice car otherwise.
Never saw a visor on a car while growing up and most of my adult life. Now it seems EVERY car from about 1954 and older has a visor. 99.99999% of cars with those stupid a-s things look like crap. Then it gets worse when they start adding all their doodads on top of it.

Looks like it's in pretty good condition. If I had a spare $28K or near it, I would probably make an offer.
-
I'll give you $10,000 for it with the visor. Lose the silly a-s visor & I'll give you the $12k.

My dad used to say 2 versions of this -

If your aunt had b-lls, she'd be your uncle.

Not really. The entire point of that car is the engine. Otherwise you can't tell it from a lower series of which there are still hundreds if not thousands running around.
I understand the mystique behind the V16, but given a choice between leaving the car buried in a garage or barn, or having it/seeing it on the road with a period correct 8 or 12, I'll take my second option.
I wouldn't have an extra $75,000 laying around for a rebuild, but if I could buy it right I'd be slammin' an 8 or 12 in it so I could drive it. I think you would get plenty of looks and oooh's & aaaah's. You'd just have to put up with the know-it-alls telling you it's the wrong engine and the upper class looking at you/it like you have leprosy or something because of the engine.

$5 says it blowed up and they were planning an SBC transplant...
That being the case, what would be a good economical solution? Would it be better to have the car back on the road with a period Cadillac non-V16?

After reading more of the replies, I wonder if we should not be looking at wholesale/retail in the old car market, but looking instead at how, sadly, it went from a hobby to an investment & business. Start by thanking the auction houses and the guys on TV chasing old cars.

The only way a dealer is making 40% on a car is if he owns it.
I believe I stated that in my comments.

The rest of the dealers are about the same or worse, with some writing $CALL, no price.
They want you to call so they can use their never fail salesmanship on you so you buy the car--------------------------------NOT!
42 minutes ago, alsancle said:On consignments most dealers are trying to make 7-10%.
On that low of profit, how could they possibly stay in business unless the profit on the cars the dealer owns and is selling is 40% or more. If 40% or more is the profit on dealer sold cars, I think it's outrageous. This my be part of the reason you never see what people in TV shows that chase after and hunt for classic cars actually pay for them. I may have to buy a new or modern used car from a dealer, but I can't see it happening with a collector car unless I have a bunch of stupid money laying around. Mayb P.T. Barnum was right.
One redeeming value of a collector car dealer is he/she may be able to find a specific car you're looking for, but be prepared to pay.
I may be all wet on my thoughts about this and if so, I think Mr. Harwood will set the record straight.

I guess straightening out the seatbelts and vacuuming the carpet would add additional cost to it. Under the hood looks pretty crappy for being restored 10 years ago.

Went and looked at the van. Supposedly 21,000 actual miles. Looked like it was rode hard & put away wet. For $17,000 it should have been mint, with all the little crap fixed or replaced. Didn't buy it. thanks for the advice and offers to help.

I found this by answering another ad. It is for sale with no price yet. Part of an estate. I asked about the Harleys also. If anyone here is interested in either, I'll pass along the information when I get it.

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion van with driver's side power seat. The motors are not available through Dodge & I can't find any NOS from a third party. Are there any shops left that could maybe rebuild mine?

Might help the sale if you posted more than 2 photos.

I see it's still 6 volt. How difficult & expensive is it to change to 12 volt.
This car actually looks pretty good with the visor.
It needs lake pipes though.
