  1. On my Rockne, the battery cover is plywood cut to fit the hole in the floor. On opposite sides of the cover there are sheet metal wings attached with flat head screws. these wings are intended to keeep the cover from falling into the hole. A small finger hole in the cover permits easy removal. I don't know if this is the original way Stude did it but it seems like a practical solution. Dick
  2. Hi, Anyone have advise on the best source for new white walls for a 32 Stude? Thanks, Dick
  3. I don't believe this is an original Rockne lamp. Look at the 1926 to to 1940 chassis aparts manual. A side view of the assembly would be helpful i still think the front must come off no matter who made it otherwise how in the world did they get it togther? Dick
  4. Remove the front chrome ring by removing one screw on the bottom, this screw holds the ring to the bucket. The lens comes with the ring and is held to the ring with several spring wire clips that can easily be removed with a long nose plier. (be careful to not let them get away from you, they may be hard to find if they go flying away.) I have noted lenses on ebay occasionally, may be easier than trying to repair Good Luck Dick
  5. I don't believe this is a model 75! The 75 has vertical (not slanted hood louvers) and did not have the chrome "V" shaped grill accent. Checkout pictures of a model 10 or 65 Rockne, I think the pictures on this post looks like one of them. Dick
  6. John 33 Rockne 2D, Haven't been able to get you on the phone, Please email me: kemprop@msn.com Dick
  7. The previous post was to start with "Holly Cow" If this post is not correct email me and I'll email pictures (I know how to do that) I don't want to keep cluttering the forum Does anyone know how to preview a post that includes the attachments, all I get is the text. kemprop@msn.com
  8. Holl coe, you got attachments from a previous post, I'll try again Dick
  9. Hi, I have a hydrostatic gas gage that I removed from a 32 Rockne. I have re-gauged the car with modern gauges Don't know if any of the parts would help you, if so let me know and I'll send them along. See two pictures (if I did it right) Dick
  10. Success: Removed the column today and will pull it apart sat Dec 13. More pictures to follow. (Provided two pictures are attached to this post).
  11. I didn't join ASC until 3 years ago so I dont have any of the older Reviews. Will attempt to get this thing removed and in the workshop this weekend. email: kemprop@msn.com Dick Kemper 7857 Alden Way Minneapolis, Mn. 55432 Grateful for your help!!!
  12. WOW, what great response. At this time the body is off the frame so I don't have a headroom problem. Regardless, would it be easier to work on the complete assembly by removing the entire column, enabling a bench top repair. Doing this might permit better access to the mechanism at the bottom of the column. Also, since it's 2 above outside in Minnesota, and in the interest of saving energy (gas garage heater), it would be nice to work on it in the comfort of my basement workshop. Better yet, if there is a professional rebuilder out there, I would be happy to send the assembly out and turn the job over to an experienced hand. I'm in a time crunch anyway since I'm trying to have the car ready for Cedar Rapids. Thank's for the advise. Dick
  13. On a 1932 Rockne can anyone tell me how to remove the horn button, lamp and throtle control ring, and then the steering wheel? All of the manuals I have don't give enough detail on this assembly and I'd like to not break anything by just forging ahead. Thanks, Dick
  14. Did yoy have the car appraised yet, curious?? Dick
  15. George, Ernie Loga has running bd. mayerial, I'm not sure it's like the original though. Ask him for a sample, Also, Little Dearborn in Minneapolis has a lot of ford stuff, including running board material. I haven't seen the material but a lot of Ford stuff matches Stude. Send a picture of your car, where are you located? Are you on Larry Tholen's Rockne registry? Dick kemprop@msn.com
  16. I don't have any information on the car but I have met several times with Richard. He has an uncany ability to find beautiful Studebakers (as well as other makes). Richard has a real going operation with employees that fix and restore, the shop is clean and is a treat to visit. Richard is committed to his business, and while he doesn't under price his cars, he is none the less proud of his operation and the product he sells. Dick, Minneapolis
