  1. Are any club members driving in the Dream Cruise this Saturday in Detroit. It is a free event. I am curious to meet other Riviera owners in the area.
  2. I am just reading this thread now.... here is an interesting article. Engine Lubricants - Solving The Flat-Tappet Puzzle - Circle Track Magazine
  3. Had it rebuilt by Paul (ROA member) and it's working great! Thanks again!
  4. I just replaced driver's seat (foam seat & back and cover) for my 65 standard interior from Clark's... perfect all around...looks great and matches well with the original blue...
  5. Just noticed your post... I bought one from Larry at Rancho Riviera last fall and it works like new. He also knows enough about Rivieras to send you the correct unit..... if you provide him with accurate information....
  6. Oh..... he said his name is Dan Jackson....
  7. Thanks Gents... this explains why the lights come on when I touch the hole in the door jam... thankfully, I am not paying by the hour to fix this minor issue... I have three wires.. purple, white and black (I think ) .Are the switches from Clark's Corvair the same as these old switches? Thanks again!
  8. I found a guy in Dearborn Heights Michigan who has some of these fuses but they are not $.50 .. he wants about $10.00 each. Let me know if you want his email address..
  9. My driver's side works well... passenger side... does not - I have the rubber boot but switch looks worn out. - any ideas where to source one? I would like to keep the same three wire switch as the wires are all good Thanks!

  12. Yes, I returned the old sending unit to Larry @ Rancho Riviera for a core refund .. good people to deal with ... As for the brake booster ... so far so good...the new MC works well... the Riv sat all winter in the garage and brakes are good pedal is high just like from factory...
  13. Chuck.. good info... neither of mine work either... I will do some testing in the next week or so...
  14. Chuck, I also need some fuses if you happen to find some..where are you based. I am in Sarnia (Brights Grove, Ontario) near Port Huron. Thanks
  15. Thanks all..in October I bought the sending unit from Rancho Riviera and brake Master cylinder from local parts outlet and both are working great...(funny, after taking the old sending unit out, I could have been repaired easily - oh well... it lasted 44 years... made those repairs to the 65 Riv and stored it for winter! I haven't been on line in quite a while.... looking forward to spring....burning some rubber!
  16. Jim, Ed thanks for your help. Booster was repaced 2 years ago. I will check to see what brand it is. The MC is original from 1965 so I assume it is a delco. The brake pedal was good when first installed.... I noticed it beginning to gradually get closer to the floor in the past 2 months. It there now. I have to use the parking brake for a full stop......
  17. The brake pedal is getting very close to the floor.... no leakage... brake booster was replaced 2 years ago ....is it the Master Cylinder? Or something else. If yes to MC, where is a good place to buy another? Also, fuel gage doesn't work - had tank resealed 2 years ago... sending unit wrk briefly but I suspect it doesn't now. Where is best place to source one? Thanks!
  18. My Mom & Dad used to spend a couple of weeks in Florida. Dad's aunt & uncle lived there and offered them their 65 Riv to drive while in Florida. Dad loved that car. It was the nicest car he ever drove. When his uncle died, his aunt called to say she knew how much Dad liked the Riv and said if you want the car, it's yours. That was 1977. Dad and I flew to Florida & drove the car home to Windsor, Ontario. I was 19. When it was my turn to drive, it was pretty special. My Dad is gone now and every drive is special. It had 43,000 miles on it when we brought it home. It has 64,000 now. Dad drove it only on special occasions and only between May and October (as I do). It is as solid as can be. Dad treated it well. So, it has great sentimental value as well as it is a great car. Great lines, classy, smooth and powerful. What's not to like!
  19. My car sat for almost 14 years.... once running again it started randomly over heating... changed thermostat and continued randomly over heating... took it to a shop which tested it using a infrared gun... temperature throughout the engine block was 'normal' and not over heating... it turned out to be the overheat sensor was corroded from sitting so long... $12 part solved the issue Good luck!
  20. Thanks Steve.... some day I will look at this ... for now no night driving! Cheers! Bob
  21. Had them working.. now they will not open... 2 new relays.... headlight motor feels hot to touch... any ideas what to do/try next? Car is running, lights come on but visors do not open..... Thanks!
  22. Thanks to all who have and continue to help with my questions. My Dad's 65 Riv is almost 100% back to normal. It just needs a really good paint job...After sitting for almost 14 years... everything is working... for now! The ROA members have been very helpful. I appreciate it Thanks much!
  23. I found one that appears to work... so far so good.. Thanks again to all!! Best regards,
