I believe you are on the right track. In the beautiful Midwest we have such temp swings we get condensation even in climate controlled buildings. I have found and repaired with about a 95% positive results rate bad grounds. I do not mean the negative battery cable (this is a good place to start) but the actual different grounds all over the car. I would trace all the grounds, clean with a wire brush and apply a good amount of di-electric grease. This is a very common problem with many GM vehicles in the moist climate. This is usually for inventory control. Wrecking yards have to keep records of all parts sold for police records reporting. Also on mechanical parts they mark the bolt heads to verify if a part is returned it has not been tampered with.
