I am not an expert on chrome plating but I know the process. It looks like the nickel plating that goes over the copper is thin as you can see a hint of copper color, but one area is darker. I am waiting for a quote to see what it would cost to fix it.

They gave me a quote of $800.00 just for one main housing! That sounds a little high as there is no pitting and are otherwise perfect. I may try another shop just out of curiosity......

Tempted, but I would hafta be there to make that call. Do you think there's a way to accurately depict that shadowing as it may not be able to be buffed out. Thanx!

What is the story on the engine and trans , the rear looks OK

    Bill

I was told the car had only 13,000 miles on it when it was restored back in 1992. (The engine was not rebuilt) There was some water in a few cylinders but when I did a scope it did not look too bad. I put Marvel Mystery oil in and it turns easy by hand. It turns over with the starter.  I did a compression test today but I have to look at the numbers.

Why isn't this Buick going to be restored ?
We can see that this car was in superb condition (the frame is very clean, it is new, and everything else too).
There is the interior to redo, the electrical harnesses, and the engine compartment. It's not a big job and this car can be driven again.
It's a shame to sell the parts, instead of saving them.

No title, the roof is warped. You would need another complete car as a parts car to restore it. It is for sale without all the shiny stuff.

Sad story I must say. I am a 55 Century owner myself. However, if parting it out, did the car have power windows? I could need the window mechanism (motor is not important) for the drivers door for my 66C project. Thanks from Norway

Sorry, this car did not have any power windows, seat, brakes or steering.

  6. Yes, I bought another 1955 Buick 66R. This car was totaled from a fire. If you know who originally owned this car, PLEASE keep it private. This is all about the car and what can be saved. (The wire wheels were directly purchased by a friend of mine for his 56 Roadmaster) This is the first video of a series that I will post on Fridays and Tuesdays. (The seat springs and headlight buckets are sold) Enjoy!

  7. RIP Frank. I had forgotten about Sleepy Hollow 2022.  "one special moment that day was @Mudbone (Ken) purchased a sandwich for Frank to eat (Frank could not walk far with his bad knees) and Frank tried to pay Ken, BUT Ken would not accept any money, Frank talked to me about that several times on how kind that was that Ken did that and how he also has two 1955 Buick's" Sometimes you do something for someone and you really don't think it is a big deal. But to them it may be a big deal. I guess we all need to remember some of the small things you do for people mean a lot to them. I was just thrilled that I was asked to park and sit and talk with all the Buick guys!

  8. This is out of order but I just wanted everyone to know I have scheduled YouTube uploads of the Dynaflow rebuild. I wanted to put them all in order and do some more editing but I do not have the time. I have scheduled uploads through august. (One or two videos a day) Not in order. Some of these have been up for some time. Most have not. These were done about 12 years ago so I may not be able to answer any questions. I followed the service manual and I had some service bulletins. Click on the Youtube link and you should be able to see the play list.  Be Nice…….
