  1. Nahuel My name is Jeff I live in Mt Laurel which is in Southern New Jersey I have a 47 Super also. (BIG YELLOW) I've had her 4 years this December. She needed a complete restoration when I got her. Currently she is close to completition and is being driven a lot. This is a wonderful automobile. By Profession I am a automotive repair Master technician. I wish to offer any help I can in your restoration project.   4. My 47 Buick 56C needs a taller gear to make her happy @ 60- 70 MPH SPEEDS necessary for traveling in todays highway traffic. I did some preliminary research, and it seems there is a 3.90 -1 ratio Buick had available in the late 40's early 50's. Can anyone confirm this and further inform me as to which models and years I need to look for? I am a automotive Technician/Mechanic by profession so I am able to deal with just changing the center section out (preferred) or changing the ring and pinion should anyone have somthing to offer for sale. Any help in this matter will be most appreciated. Jeff
  5. Roger thanks for the come back havinng been a Mechanic since the 60 's I can say all you said is correct this one has me baffled and ZI want to, if possible do it right as any breakage may be costly and time consuming . thanks much for your effort Jeff
  6. I'm in the process of removing the engine from a 62 Studebaker lark. Ita a 6 cyl and I can't seem to determine what needs to be un fastener in the flywheel/torque converter area to seperate the torque convertter from the crank shaft/flex plate. I can see som fasteners through the starter opening but access is impossible from there and no other openings seem to line up with any other fasteners. Any help would be appreciated

  8. I'm replacing the rear axle seals and axle bearings on my 47 Buick Super. The old bearings look as if they were lubricated with wheel bearing grease is this correct?? I assume this is the reason for an inner and outer axle seal. The factory service manual is not clear. If it is indeed wheel bearing grease how much is needed ?

  10. I am researching to see if anyone knows it if there is a modern lip seal type replacement for the rear main rope seal on a 47 Buick super straight eight ?
