Jim,
Here is a company that will reproduce an factory original window sticker. Buick Window Stickers
You can also get a generic one that you can do yourself, but nothing beats a true factory one.

Dick,
The oil pump on the 430 is located up front on the right side as the distributor is located in the front.
Hope this helps.

As Darwin pointed out, they have been running that ad for almost a year. I've also heard that they are sourcing everything out to a China company and nothing is even close. All this junk crap coming from China is finally biting every company in the rear for running over there for their cheap labor.

Last week I attended a program"Preservation Vs Restoration" that was done by the Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland,OH. The speaker was David Schultz who is the executive director of the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles show and where I was the chief judge of this show for 6 years. Mr. Schultz has also been a judge at Pebble Beach.
It is Mr. Schultz's professional opinion that if you own an all original car, you should preserve it in a functional running and driving condition no matter what the current condition it is in.
As an example, Mr. Schultz owns an all original Locomobile. The paint is worn down in some places to the primer and the rest is severely dull, the top has some holes in it and the upholestery is cracked due to it not having side windows.
He absolutely will not restore this car, choosing to only keep it functional and in running condition. He stated that the hobby needs to preserve more all original cars as a "benchmark" for those wishing to restore one in the future.
Our Riviera's were painted in acrylic lacquer paint, which is no longer available. The new modern paints will not give the same look.
Mr. Schultz went on to say that many car shows are now recognizing the importance of all original cars and now have a separate class for them. He also stated that serious car collectors are now paying more money for an all original car with all it's flaws than one that has been perfectly restored.

Jason is correct about the bushings. I had to replace mine on my 71 years ago and it only had 15,000 original miles. They rotted out due to age. If you have to replace them, might as well go polygraphite. You will notice a much better handling and they do not effect the ride.

Henry,
When I go to use the heater, it only blows low speed.
I think you are confusing the low speed blower relay with the temperature control switch.
The temperature control switch that screws into the right rear of the head is designed to allow the current to flow to the blower motor after the temperature reaches a certain temperature. This switch has nothing to do with the blower speeds.
There is a blower relay switch that is mounted on the firewall that controls your blower speeds. If your system is only working on the low speed, I would zero in on the blower relay switch. I've had to replace that switch many times over the years on my 71.

Pete,
I would throw away that 12 year old Turtle Wax chrome polish. Here is the link for the Premium Metal Polish.

A fuel tank from a 71 will also work. In 73 the fuel filler neck was relocated to the center of the bumber to go along with the redesign.
Sending units are readily available.

On page 30 of the Nov/Dec issue of the Riview under "Upholstery Sources" are two sources listed for headliners and carpet.

Pete,
Glad to hear that you took my advise and used the Premium Metal polish. I am still using it with superior results. Another superior product is Eagle One Never Dull and you can get that at Wal Mart.
BTW, I dropped off Chris Knowles email list over a year & half ago.
Take Care

Part # 1230489 When you state:I want to replace the dipstick on my 455 engine, since it does not fit properly anymore. I bought it this way and it really bothers me.
What do you mean by fit properly??? Loose??? You can take a wide flat blade screwdriver and bend out the tangs or are they missing?

Dave,
Kevin is correct. The chrome lid for the GS's did not come with any decal. Only the standard black non GS had a decal.

Ed,
Lectric Limited is licensed to reproduce GM spark plug wire sets. I got a set for my 71 along with the T3 headlight bulbs from them. They do have a listing for Riviera.

I suggest you get out your owners manual and read page 25. It will fully explain the louvers.

Someone added the hood ornament as they were not available in 71. Just like the passenger door mirror. I just love how the idiot did not know anything about the louvers in the trunk were for and his answer about the back window was the biggest laugh I've had this week.

Got a quart of Buick red engine paint from Cars and Bill Hirsch. Both were too maroon. Had a friend suggest Sherwin-Williams. Code 5A-4393-B Went to a local SW auto paint store and they mixed up a quart. Exact match for Buick red.

Peter,
That is a very reasonable price. You did not indicate the mileage. On the boattails especially the 73's, the deck lid rusts out from having the drain holes being plugged with debris. Also look for rust in the bottom of the quarters. Is the A/C working.

Dan,
You should have Q-jet 7028240 for your 68. The Rochester number decoding is 702= 1960's Rochester Carbs 76 and later will start wi th 170, 8=year produced 1968.2=Quadrajet 4 bbl.4=Buick 9=auto trans. 7029240# would indicate a card for 1960's for a 1969 4bbl Buick with auto trans. The last digit even #'s auto trans, odd #'s manual trans.

Hi Jerry,
Long time, since we talked. If you check the ROA website for the meet. You can register for Thurs. only and that would include the banquet. You would not receive the registration bag.

71 & 72's used a plunger type power trunk release. In 73 the locking mechmechanism was changed due to the redesign of the back end with a new deck lid and bumper. Complete units are becoming very hard to find as you also need the switch that goes into the glove box.

Window Sticker
in Buick Riviera
Posted
Dan,
Although I still had my original factory sticker and I had it laminated many years ago, as I bought my 71 new. It was getting very faded, I did get a new one from this guy. As you state, he does do an excellent job and the sticker is absolutely correct. If you put the two side by side, you could not tell which one was the factory original VS the reproduction.
