  1. I just realized that my Hupmobile is missing the front shocks.  It is a Century M 8 cylinder.  I know they should be Monroe shocks, but would love to see pictures of them on a car to see where they mount and how they are mounted.  Any help would be appreciated.

    If you have a pair for sale let me know.

  2. If I want to use the presents I got from Santa, I need to get the budd wheels together.  Nothing like getting all the components to finish a job to get you moving.  

    I pulled an axle complete with the rotor on it from my stash so I could turn the wheel to get it true.  I clamped it in the vice and bolted the center part of the budd wheel to the hub.  Got it true and then began drilling the holes for the rivets.  Before long I had one wheel ready to clean up and powder coat.  The last picture is the second wheel and it has not been as easy as the first wheel.  It is close to being true now and tomorrow I will hopefully finish it up and be ready to powder coat and then mount the ag tires.

Santa was good to the FOR and the Hupmobile this year.  I got the two ag tires and Santa misunderstood and got me 4 tires for the spare on the FOR, but I will use the others on the rest of the Crosley fleet.  I also got the correct tail light for the Hupmobile, the center glass should be clear but I think I can find that.

    And I got some wire wheels so I can clean up the chassis on the Hupmobile.

    I hope Santa was good to you and your cars.

  4. I have been doing a little changes to the Hupp over the last few months.  Hershey 2018 I bought some stainless wire covers for the exposed wires on the lights and decided that it was time to put them on.  Minor cosmetic enhancements from rubber hoses.

If when you connect the back brakes up and you loose pedal pressure then the wheel cylinders are moving if there is no air in the lines.  If the wheel cylinders are froze up you would still have pressure at the pedal, just like when you take the rears out of the system.  I would guess that either the wheel cylinders are not contacting the finger on the shoe, or the shoes are not contacting the drums. 

    Is this a single bowl cylinder?

  6. The less desirable cranks were cast iron and not as thick counter balances.  

    The crankcase for the tin block are basically the same as the cast iron block.  When Crosley started having problems with the tin block they replaced them with cast iron blocks, using the same crankcase, crank, pistons intake and exhaust.  They might have even used the original cam, valves and lifters knowing Powell Crosley.

  7. My shop looks like a Crosley engine factory.  I now have 6 + engines that I either have running and ready to paint, or tore down for repairs, or totally junk.  

    In getting some of my spare engines running I have found one crankcase with strapped mains, which is highly desirable.  I also have found 2 cast steel crankshafts, more desirable parts.  

    I hope within the next few days to have the strapped main engine up and running.  I still have a few engines in the back room that might run without much work.
